New clinical guideline on work-related mental health conditions in general practice

Monash University’s Department of General Practice has recently published a new clinical guideline endorsed by the RACGP and Australian College of Remote and Rural Medicine. The Clinical guideline for the diagnosis and management of work-related mental health conditions in general practice addresses the clinical dilemmas of assessing and diagnosing work-related mental health. It includes 11 evidence-based recommendations, as well as a summary.

The guideline highlights the important role of GPs in the care of patients with mental health conditions, outlines how GPs can determine the work-relatedness of a condition, and provides recommendations on how patients can facilitate their recovery and return to work.
